– TRAFFIC ADVISORY –
OVERNIGHT CENTURY BOULEVARD CLOSURES AT AVIATION BOULEVARD WILL RESUME ON MONDAY FOR CRENSHAW/LAX METRO RAIL PROJECT
(Los Angeles, California – August 12, 2016) As part of its month-long project to remove the temporary “falsework” that had supported the Crenshaw/LAX Project bridge over Century Boulevard during its initial construction, Metro will continue closures of both west and eastbound Century Boulevard. There will be no closures August 12 -14.
Starting Monday, August 15, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, Metro will close all eastbound lanes and the left-most westbound lane ofCentury Boulevard between Aviation Boulevard and Bellanca Avenue. The eastbound lanes will be closed overnight for several days, before shifting to all westbound lanes the remainder of the week. Prior to the switch, Metro and its contractor, Walsh-Shea Corridor Constructors -- as well as airport officials -- will inform the public.
An additional round of eastbound closures is expected the week of August 22-27.
All work will take place from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weeknights, with no work on Saturday or Sunday nights. All schedules are dependent upon weather conditions. Emergency access will be maintained at all times.
Metro will detour traffic around the closure. When westbound Century Boulevard is closed,
automobiles will be diverted north on Aviation Boulevard, west on West Arbor Vitae Street, south on Airport Boulevard, then west on Century Boulevard. Trucks will be directed to turn north on La Cienega Boulevard, west on West Arbor Vitae Street, south on Airport Boulevard, and then west on Century Boulevard. During those weeknights when all eastbound Century Boulevard lanes are closed, all vehicles will be directed north on Airport Boulevard, east onto West Arbor Vitae Street before heading south on Aviation Boulevard to rejoin Century Boulevard. See detour maps below.
