–TRAFFIC ADVISORY–
CITY OF INGLEWOOD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT MAY CAUSE DELAYS ON EASTBOUND CENTURY BOULEVARD THROUGH MARCH

(Los Angeles, California – December 16, 2016)  Airport officials are advising motorists and travelers that the City of Inglewood’s on-going project to improve Century Boulevard may cause delays for motorists leaving Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) beginning Tuesday, December 20, and continuing into March 2017.

As part of Inglewood’s Century Boulevard Mobility Improvements Project, eastbound Century Boulevard will be reduced from three lanes to one lane between La Cienega Boulevard and Felton Avenue, including the I-405 underpass, for roadway excavation, removal and new concrete pavement.  Further east, Century Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes between Felton and Inglewood avenues.

This work may impact drivers exiting LAX and using eastbound Century Boulevard to reach northbound I-405.

The City of Inglewood will post detours, and motorists leaving LAX can use I-105 as an alternative route to reach I-405.  Work will not occur on weekends, nor on Monday, December 26 and January 2.

The ongoing Century Boulevard Mobility Improvement Project encompasses a three-mile distance from the Inglewood city limit at La Cienega Boulevard to Van Ness Avenue.  The project will improve the roadway surface conditions, bring all traffic lanes and signals to current codes and standards, improve traffic and pedestrian safety, and reduce congestion along Century Boulevard.  Started in late 2015 and expected to be completed in mid-2017, the construction work is being performed in four segments.
