–TRAFFIC ADVISORY–
METRO RAIL WORK TO CAUSE OVERNIGHT CLOSURES ON IMPERIAL HIGHWAY NEAR LAX

(Los Angeles, California – January 9, 2017)  Motorists heading to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) during the next two weeks are advised that one direction of Imperial Highway will be fully closed at Aviation Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) due to Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) work on the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project.

Westbound Imperial Highway at Aviation Boulevard will be fully closed starting tonight from 9 p.m., Monday, January 9, to 5 a.m. each morning until Metro’s contractor removes temporary supports (falsework) from the new bridge that will carry the Crenshaw/LAX rail line over Imperial Highway.

Once the work over the westbound lanes of Imperial Highway is completed, the full closure will shift to the eastbound lanes.  Each directional closure is expected to last one week, and the work should be completed by January 20.

Detours will be posted.  During the westbound closure, motorists will be diverted to southbound Aviation Boulevard to westbound El Segundo Boulevard before turning north on Douglas Street to rejoin Imperial Highway.  The eastbound detour will route motorists south on Douglas Street and east on El Segundo Boulevard before turning north on Aviation Boulevard to rejoin Imperial Highway.

Information on the Metro Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project is available at www.metro.net/projects/crenshaw_corridor/ and by following Metro on Twitter at @crenshawrail or Facebook at www.facebook.com/crenshawrail.  The public may also call the Metro Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project hotline at (213) 922-2736.
