LAX RESPONSE TO FT. LAUDERDALE-HOLLYWOOD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT INCIDENT
Update 1/FINAL at 3:50 p.m.:
Following is Update #1/FINAL regarding LAX flight operations today due to the incident at FLL:
The FAA’s website currently shows that flight operations at FLL is expected to resume at 6:59 PM EST. Please visit www.faa.gov for up-to-date status of operations at FLL.
There were six arriving and six departing nonstop flights scheduled today between LAX and FLL:
- Arrivals: 3 arriving flights that took off from FLL before the incident occurred arrived at LAX. Three flights scheduled to arrive this afternoon and evening are cancelled.
- Departures: 1 departure flight that was already in the air to FLL at the time of the incident diverted to Orlando and has landed at that airport. Four are cancelled and one flight is still scheduled for later tonight.
- Passengers are advised to check with their airlines on flight status.

Below is a statement from Los Angeles World Airports regarding today’s shooting incident at Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport:
The entire LAX community offers our deepest thoughts and prayers for those involved. We are thinking about everyone at Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and are closely monitoring the situation.
In response to the incident, Los Angeles Airport Police is deploying additional resources into our terminals and increasing their presence in the Central Terminal Area.
FLL has announced suspension of their operations until further notice. There were six arriving and six departing nonstop flights between LAX and FLL scheduled today:
- Arrivals: 3 arriving flights that took off from FLL before the incident occurred are shown scheduled to arrive. Three flights arriving this afternoon or evening are currently delayed.
- Departures: 1 departure flight is already in the air to FLL. The remaining five departure flights today are all delayed.
