VIVA AEROBUS INAUGURATES NONSTOP SERVICE FROM LAX TO GDL

Viva Aerobus expects to transport more than 100,000 passengers in the first year of operations of this route from Los Angeles, CA to Guadalajara, Mexico.

(Los Angeles, CA)
Yesterday evening, Viva Aerobus, Mexico's ultra-low-cost airline, celebrated the inauguration of its Guadalajara (GDL) - Los Angeles (LAX) route. It is the first time that the airline is operating at LAX. This route offers daily service and prices starting from $2,051 pesos (USD $109) on single flights with taxes included.

The inaugural event was attended by Carlos García de Alba Zepeda, Consul General of Mexico in Los Angeles; Ernest Wooden, CEO of Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (LATCB); Samson Mengistu, Chief Operations Officer of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and Juan Carlos Zuazua, General Director of Viva Aerobus, who recognized the stimulus to connectivity, tourism and business that this route represents.

In his speech, the Consul General of Mexico, Carlos García de Alba, stressed the importance of linking Jalisco with California by air.

"The daily flight of Viva Aerobus, due to its low rates, will allow many more families to travel more easily and thus increase Mexican tourism in this western area of the United States," said the Consul.

Viva Aerobus expects to transport more than 100,000 passengers on this route during the first year of operations. Moreover, the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board predicts that, with this new route, tourists who will visit Los Angeles from Guadalajara will contribute $18 million to the local economy.

Samson Mengistu, LAWA’s Chief Operations Officer, said, "The Viva Aerobus route that we are launching today will allow travelers from the region to discover all that our friends of South have to offer. Whether it’s visiting family, exploring roots, embarking on a business venture, or discovering a new vacation destination, Mexico has much to offer and Viva Aerobus will take you there."

"With this new route, Guadalajara and Los Angeles will be closer than ever thanks to our unbeatable prices. Our arrival represents a round benefit for travelers and for these two prominent cities, as their tourism, cultural and commercial value will be linked, strengthened and available to many more people," said Juan Carlos Zuazua.

Viva Aerobus has reported a growth of 29% in the period January-November 2017 compared to the previous year and with a load factor of 89%. In addition, the airline celebrates 11 years of operations, having launched, only in this year, 23 new routes, as a result of its commitment to expand an offer of affordable flights to more and more destinations.
