The Gateways Student Volunteer Program provides students an opportunity to volunteer in various divisions at LAX and Van Nuys offices based on their career interests. Students also have the opportunity to volunteer for the Federal Aviation Administration in the Human Resources and Air Traffic Controller offices.
Volunteers are able to gain valuable work experience in a real work environment. They will be able to network with perspective employers in LAWA and other companies. Volunteers are also eligible to apply for the paid internship program.
Student volunteers must be at least 16 years of age with a valid work permit, have good work ethic and reliable transportation. Students are required to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours a week, two days a week. Volunteers will be interviewed by LAWA staff prior to entering the volunteer program.
As a policy, a volunteer cannot be hired or placed under the direct or indirect supervision of relatives.
