Vehicle Service Road L Temporary Closure Between VSR C and TBIT West Gate 225 for TBIT West South Gates Construction Project

July 11, 2023 Through July 31, 2024

Project Overview:

Vehicle Service Road L (VSR L) between VSR C and Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) West Gate 225 will close temporarily for the TBIT West South Gates Construction Project starting on Tuesday July 11, 2023, and will remain closed continuously through July 31, 2024 (estimated). In addition, the east/west oriented VSR that runs south of TBIT West between Gates 202 and 225 will be closed to support the construction.

Alternate VSRs will remain available for access to TBIT West Gates, including VSR K and the crossover VSR that runs between TBIT and TBIT West, VSR E and the crossover north of TBIT West, VSR L on the east side of TBIT West between Gate 225 and VSR E, and VSR M on the west side of TBIT West. Soon a segment of the new VSR D will open, which will connect to VSR P, VSR M, VSR L, and VSR K (date to be determined).

Please review the most current version of the LAX AOA Vehicle Service Road Map via the link below, and share this information with all teams who drive on the LAX airfield VSRs.

Operational Impacts:
  • VSR L will be temporarily closed between VSR C and Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) West Gate 225 from July 11, 2023 to July 31, 2024.
  • The east/west oriented VSR between TBIT West Gates 202 and 225 will be temporarily closed for a longer duration while the south gates terminal construction is ongoing to connect the new facilities to the existing TBIT West Terminal. The reopening date of this segment is to be determined, likely closer to the end of 2024 or early 2025.
  • Additional drive time may be required due to the need to use alternate VSR routes via the open VSRs for access to TBIT West gates.
Vehicle Service Road Driver Safety Items:
  • Drivers must be vigilant and exercise caution in the vicinity of the construction areas and observe road closed signs.
  • Drivers should also be aware of the potential for increased transit times due to the VSR L closure and traffic detours.
  • Drivers must reduce speed and use caution at the service road detours and closure segments.

Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMs) have been issued for the scheduled closures. Please plan flight operations accordingly and check current NOTAMs at https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch for current airfield operating conditions.
