Board of Airport Commissioners Approve Contract to Install 2,200 New Security Bollards at LAX

(Los Angeles, CA) Today, the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC) awarded a contract for the construction of permanent security bollards throughout the Central Terminal Area (CTA) of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The bollards, which will be installed in the coming months, will enhance airport security by providing a permanent separation between the roadway and pedestrian pathways. The bollards will replace K-rails, which were temporarily installed this past holiday season.

At LAX, we are undergoing a major transformation and have created an economic environment that is bringing jobs to the region and increasing consumer confidence. We have executed plans for modernizing terminals and amenities as well as introduced new international routes. Mayor Garcetti Announces a Record-Breaking Year for the L.A. Economy

(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles’ economy continued to surge in 2017, as tourism, travel through LAX, and Port cargo broke all-time records yet again. Mayor Eric Garcetti announced the record-breaking numbers today at LAX’s Tom Bradley International Terminal, alongside Councilmember Joe Buscaino and leaders from the Los Angeles Convention & Tourism Development Department, the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, Los Angeles World Airports, and the Port of Los Angeles.

January Modernization Update
• Westbound 105 ramp from Northbound 405 closes for four months.

• End of holiday construction moratorium on Thursday means changes at Terminal 1 Upper/Departures Level.

• Access to Parking Structure 4 will be limited starting later this month.

• LAX G Shuttle will move its pick-up and drop-off to Hawthorne/Lennox Station during a Metro project that will suspend Green Line rail service further west starting January 26.

LAWA Board Authorizes Upcoming Release of RFP for Automated People Mover at LAX

 (Los Angeles, CA) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC) has authorized Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Automated People Mover (APM) train at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The RFP for the APM is one component of the larger $5.5 billion Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP), which is designed to reduce traffic at the airport by adding a train into the Central Terminal Area (CTA) that connects to Los Angeles Metro’s light rail system, a consolidated rental car (ConRAC) facility, and additional parking structures with new areas for picking up and dropping off passengers. This is the first time a Public Private Partnership (P3) Design Build Finance Operate Maintain (DBFOM) model will be used to construct and operate an APM.

FINAL NIGHT OF "LAX ON THE MOVE" SEES FIVE AIRLINES RELOCATE OPERATIONS

All of the airlines involved in the final night of the “LAX on the MOVE” airline relocations are operating in their new homes at this time. Delta Air Lines is in Terminals 2 and 3, while JetBlue and Hawaiian Airlines are in Terminal 5 and Air Canada is flying from Terminal 6.

SECOND ROUND OF TERMINAL MOVES AT LAX SUCCESSFUL

(Los Angeles, California – May 15, 2017) The second major round of airline terminal relocations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) was completed overnight as Avianca, Interjet, and Spirit relocated to their new homes across Terminals 2, 3, 5, and the Tom Bradley International Terminal. Delta Air Lines completed the second of three nights of relocating its gates from Terminals 5 and 6 to Terminals 2 and 3.
