CITY COUNCIL APPROVES LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS $5B MULTIPLE AWARD TASK ORDER CONTRACT FOR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
(Los Angeles) The Los Angeles City Council today approved Los Angeles World Airports’ (LAWA) latest Multiple Award Task Order Contract, or MATOC, for design-build and construction services. The overall contract, which is valued at $5 billion and includes 51 contractual agreements, assembles a pool of pre-qualified design-builders and construction contractors that can support forthcoming projects in LAWA's multi-billion-dollar Capital Improvement Program.

LAX EXPECTS MORE THAN 3.2 MILLION WINTER HOLIDAY TRAVELERS, SHARES TRAVEL TIPS

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is preparing for one of its busiest periods of the year as the winter holiday travel period began Thursday, Dec. 19 and continues through Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. During this time, the airport expects to serve more than 3.2 million passengers, with peak volumes anticipated on Dec. 21, 27, 30 and Jan. 2, 2025.

LAX UNVEILS NEW MURAL IN TERMINAL 4: EVERYDAY TRANSCENDENCE BY ALLISON KUNATH
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has introduced a new mural titled Everyday Transcendence by artist Allison Kunath, located in Terminal 4’s concourse. The 226-foot-wide artwork showcases bold sunburst patterns and over 60 colors transitioning from cool blues to warm hues, symbolizing movement and human connection. This installation, part of LAX’s Terminal 4 renovations, aims to enrich the passenger experience with a moment of reflection and gratitude. The mural is now on display for ticketed passengers.

LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS REMOVES FOREVER CHEMICALS FROM ONE OF THE LARGEST AIRCRAFT RESCUE FIREFIGHTING RESPONSE FLEETS IN THE US
Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is nearing completion of a pioneering project to remove firefighting foam containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from its entire fleet of Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Van Nuys Airport (VNY). This initiative will make LAWA among the first airport operators in California to transition to fluorine-free foam (F3) and positions it as a leader in environmental stewardship and firefighter safety.
