VAN NUYS AIRPORT AVIATION EXPO PROCEEDS RAISE RECORD $95K FOR NONPROFITS Donations to Benefit San Fernando Valley Youth
Van Nuys, CA- Van Nuys Airport's annual Aviation Expo raised a record-breaking $95,000 for local nonprofit youth and service organizations, which is up $10,000 from the previous year's event. More than 325,000 aviation enthusiasts turned out for the two-day air show last weekend, featuring static displays and flyovers of celebrated military and vintage aircraft.
Also, the San Fernando Valley Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, an Expo co-sponsor and nonprofit organization, awarded $9,000 in scholarships to three students pursuing aviation careers.
"We are grateful to the public's overwhelming response to Aviation Expo, the support of our sponsors and the tireless efforts of volunteers and staffers who make the air show the success it is. Their hard work and involvement enables Van Nuys Airport to give back to the community and directly benefit San Fernando Valley youth," said Van Nuys Airport Manager Selena Birk.
Expo proceeds will assist more than 20 nonprofit organizations, including such local high schools as Granada, James Monroe and Kennedy, as well as Patrick Henry Middle School and Gault Street Elementary. Among others benefiting are several area Rotary and Optimist clubs, Mid-Valley Chamber of Commerce, Civil Air Patrol, and Pacoima Athletic Club.
The Van Nuys Airport Aviation Expo is presented by Los Angeles World Airports, which operates a world-class system of four airports, including Los Angeles International, Ontario International, Palmdale Regional and Van Nuys Airport.
