LAWA NAMES FRANKLIN STERLING AS CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

 

(Los Angeles, CA -- June 21, 2001) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has named Franklin M. Sterling, P.E., as Chief Information Officer. Sterling will be responsible for LAWA's Information Technology Division overseeing the information system and telecommunications functions at LAWA's four airports.

"There is no better choice than Franklin Sterling for this critical job," said Lydia H. Kennard, LAWA executive director. "We are delighted that he is bringing his nearly four decades of experience to the department."

Sterling has 39 years of experience in the design and implementation of airport technology and other special systems. As head of Franklin M. Sterling Associates, an Oakland-based firm, he most recently served as a design consultant for the expansion of San Francisco International Airport. Sterling has also served as an information technology consultant at LAX. His airport design practice has also included asset management systems, security, fire and life safety, UHF radio controls, maintenance management, energy management, and premises distribution systems at many of the largest airports in the U.S. and abroad. Sterling's telecommunications design activities include local area network systems (LANS), closed-circuit cable television, intercom, public address, paging, audio-visual, telephone systems, and data networks.

Mr. Sterling is an engineering graduate of Ohio University, and also holds an MBA from Golden Gate University. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of California.
