(Los Angeles, CA -- June 15, 2001) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has appointed Paul A. Haney as Deputy Executive Director – Public and Community Relations with responsibility for public and community relations at LAWA’s four airports.

"Paul Haney offers LAWA a unique blend of extensive experience. He has served in senior positions in corporate public relations, the airline industry, and the news media," said Lydia H. Kennard, LAWA executive director. "LAWA has a highly effective individual in charge of our community and public relations programs at our four airports."

Haney’s career has spanned three decades working for large news, airline and aerospace organizations. He began his news media experience in 1969 as a reporter for the Rochester (N.Y.) Times-Union, and worked as a reporter, bureau manager and business executive at United Press International from 1971 to 1979. He joined American Airlines in 1979 as manager-news services at its corporate headquarters in Dallas/Fort Worth and through 1991 went on to hold three airline operations positions, including serving as American’s general manager at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from 1987 to 1991. After leaving American, he spent a decade at Lockheed and Lockheed Martin corporations in four positions, including director-corporate news and information, and director-ethics and corporate compliance programs.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in journalism from the University of Kansas.
