FORMER SAN FRANCISCO CHIEF ATTORNEY OF PUBLIC PROTECTION TO LEAD LOS ANGELES CITY ATTORNEY’S AIRPORT DIVISION
(Los Angeles, CA - November 6, 2002) Eduardo Angeles is the new Managing Assistant of the Los Angeles City Attorney's Airport Division serving Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) following his appointment by City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo.
LAWA Executive Director Lydia H. Kennard joined Delgadillo in praising the Airport Division's new top legal counsel. "We believe this talented attorney will lead his staff to aggressively support the many and varied initiatives that lie ahead for one of the world's busiest airport systems. His previous post as Chief Attorney of Public Protection in the San Francisco City Attorney's Office and other important assignments will provide us with a wealth of experience and knowledge."
In making his announcement, Delgadillo said, "Eddie Angeles has proven himself an exemplary lawyer through his service with the San Francisco City Attorney's Office," said City Attorney Delgadillo. "I have no doubt he will be an invaluable asset to the City of Los Angeles and add expertise to the complex issues surrounding our airports."
As Managing Assistant of the Airport Division, Angeles will be responsible for the supervision of attorneys and support staff assigned to provide legal counsel to LAWA, which consists of four airports: Los Angeles International (LAX), Ontario International (ONT), Van Nuys (VNY) and Palmdale Regional (PMD). As legal counsel for LAWA, Angeles will be in charge of providing advice to both LAWA and the Board of Airport Commissioners, negotiating and drafting leases, contracts, concession agreements and other transactional documents. In addition, Angeles will be responsible for all LAWA litigation matters.
Angeles has distinguished himself with his work in the San Francisco City Attorney's Office which he joined in 1991. Angeles' last assignment was as General Counsel of the Police Department and Chief Attorney of Public Protection. Angeles was recently named one of the "Best Lawyers Under 40" by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, an umbrella group for Asian Bar Associations across the country.
His professional and community activities include: president in 1998-99 of the Governing Board of Trustees of the Jefferson Union High School District and member of the Board since 1994; secretary of the Board of Directors of the San Mateo Legal Aid Society -- 1997 to 2001; president of the Asian Pacific Bar Association of California - 1997-98; and County of San Mateo Superior/Municipal Court, Volunteer, Judge Pro Tem Pore. Angeles is a writer and conference speaker on a variety of topics of the law including human resources and construction insurance.
He received his law degree in 1990 from the University of California, Hastings College of Law, San Francisco and a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987 from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
