MCDONALD’S CORPORATION AGREES TO NEW LOS ANGELES AIRPORT CONCESSION POLICIES, PROGRAMS

(Los Angeles, California – August 20, 2002) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved an amendment to the concession agreement with McDonald’s Corporation which calls for the company to abide by City of Los Angeles policies and programs governing relations between City contractors and their workers.

The amendment to the concession agreement calls for McDonald's to comply with the Los Angeles Living Wage Ordinance, the Service Contractor Worker Retention Ordinance, the Child Support Assignment Orders Ordinance and the Contractor Responsibility Program. McDonald's had not been contractually required to abide by these laws and programs because the Los Angeles City Council and the Board of Airport Commissioners adopted them subsequent to McDonald's award of a 10-year concession agreement that began May 21, 1995.

McDonald’s operates food and beverage facilities in Terminals 1, 5, 7 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX. In addition to the above policies, McDonald’s has committed to maintaining a level of 100 percent Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation.

Airport officials said that it is LAX's goal to have all of its concessionaires comply with City policies and programs.
