CONTRACT AWARDED FOR RESIDENTIAL SOUNDPROOFING NEAR VAN NUYS AIRPORT

(Los Angeles, California - October 7, 2003) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded AMD Construction Group, Inc., Orange, Calif., a contract for residential soundproofing in Van Nuys. The $1,06700.00 contract will cover sound-insulation modifications on 62 multi-family residences located within the noise-impacted area near Van Nuys Airport.

This contract award brings the total number of homes completed or in the process of soundproofing construction in Van Nuys to 283. The residences will be outfitted with dual-paned windows, solid-core doors, attic insulation, and other necessary soundproofing improvements.

The Van Nuys noise mitigation program includes nearly 1,200 residences in the Van Nuys Airport area with a recorded Community Noise Equivalency Level (CNEL) of 65 decibels or higher.

The program is administered by the Los Angeles World Airports Residential Soundproofing Division. A community office and showroom at 16525 Sherman Way, Suite C-1 is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Residents may call (818) 909-3573 for further information.
