LAX TO REPAVE LOWER/ARRIVAL ROADWAY BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 28; NIGHT LANE CLOSURE PERIODS TO OCCUR UNTIL OCTOBER 23
(Los Angeles, CA -- September 24, 2003) A major roadway repaving project at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) over four weeks beginning Sunday, September 28, and concluding Thursday, October 23, will require late-night lane closures partially restricting the flow of traffic using the Lower/Arrival Level roadway.
LAX maintenance crews will conduct the repaving work in four phases beginning at Terminal 1 and moving around the Central Terminal Area horseshoe-shaped roadway to finish at Terminals 7 and 8.
Construction crews will work from approximately 12 midnight to 8 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights. No work is planned on Friday and Saturday nights. The roadway will be fully open during other hours of the day.
Traffic officers will assist in diverting traffic to open lanes. The roadway serving all of LAX's terminals will remain partially open while crews work on the Lower/Arrival Level. Entrances to parking lots and parking structures will remain open during the repaving work. The Upper/Departure Level roadway also will be fully open during construction.
For details about the progress of the work, travelers and visitors to LAX should tune into Airport Radio AM 530.
