COUNTRY STARS PERFORM FREE CONCERT IN CELEBRATION OF LAX,S 75TH ANNIVERSARY

Blast from the Past Concert Features Hit Song L.A. International Airport

(Los Angeles, California -- July 31, 2003) As the only airport to have its own hit song, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is hosting a free concert on Wednesday, August 6, 2003, featuring country music stars Susan Raye and Shirley Myers as part of the airport's 75th anniversary celebration. Both recording artists have performed the hit song "L.A. International Airport."

The concert is scheduled from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. at the LAX Flag Courtyard located at the intersection of Century and Sepulveda Boulevards. Free parking will be available with validation in any of the airport's Central Terminal Area parking structures.

Susan Raye recorded and released "L.A. International Airport" in 1971. The song quickly became one of the biggest crossover hits of the decade (No.9 on the country chart and No. 54 on the pop chart), launching her career as a top female country music artist.

This year the song was updated with modern references and up-to-date trends of Los Angeles in 2003, and re-recorded by singer Shirley Myers to celebrate LAX's diamond anniversary. The LAX concert will feature this song, as well as other hits by Susan Raye and Shirley Myers.

"By bringing both artists together, it's a perfect way to reflect on the history of LAX, and also to celebrate the LAX of today," said Lydia H. Kennard, Los Angeles World Airports Executive Director, who will serve as emcee for the noontime concert. She added, "Being located in the entertainment capital of the world, what better way to draw attention to LAX's 75th anniversary than to use a piece of entertainment that's part of the airport's history?"

The two singers will be at LAX during the morning for another anniversary activity, a karaoke contest sponsored by Southwest Airlines, featuring contestants competing for a grand prize trip to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. Susan Raye, Shirley Myers and other celebrities will judge the 10 finalists' renditions of "L.A. International Airport."
