TWO CONTRACTS AWARDED FOR RESIDENTIAL SOUNDPROOFING IN SOUTH LOS ANGELES COUNCIL DISTRICT 8

 

(Los Angeles, California – July 21, 2003) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded AMD Construction Group, Inc of Orange, Calif., two contracts for residential soundproofing near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The two contracts, totaling $2,420,000 will cover sound-insulation modifications on 87 units located within the noise-impacted area of Council District 8 in Los Angeles.

These two contract awards bring the total number of homes completed or in the process of soundproofing construction to 3,132. The residences will be outfitted with dual-paned windows, solid-core doors, attic insulation, and other necessary soundproofing improvements.

The noise mitigation program includes nearly 9,000 residences in the Los Angeles communities of Westchester, Playa del Rey and South Los Angeles with a recorded community Noise Equivalency Level (CNEL) of 65 decibels or higher.

The program is administered by the Los Angeles World Airports Residential Sound-proofing Bureau. A community office at 8939 South Sepulveda Boulevard in Westchester is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
