AIRTRAN AIRWAYS BEGINS DAILY NONSTOP SERVICE BETWEEN LAX AND ATLANTA

(Los Angeles, California -- June 4, 2003)  AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc., today launched service at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with two daily nonstop flights to Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport.  Los Angeles is the Atlanta-based airline’s first destination on the West Coast and 42nd in its network. 

“Coast-to-coast service between Los Angeles and Atlanta is an important expansion of our hub network, and we are very pleased to begin service to this premier U.S. destination,” stated Robert L. Fornaro, AirTran Airways’ president and chief operating officer.  “As one of the cities most requested by our customers, we expect to stimulate demand among business and leisure travelers.”

“We are pleased to welcome AirTran Airways to LAX," said Lydia H. Kennard, executive director of Los Angeles World Airports, the City department that owns and operates LAX and three other Southern California airports.  "We believe travelers will benefit from additional service in the Los Angeles-Atlanta market."

The AirTran daily flights depart LAX at 12:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m., and arrive in Atlanta at 7:50 p.m. and 6:55 a.m. the next morning, respectively.  Flights depart Atlanta at 9:40 a.m. and 8:50 p.m., and arrive at LAX at 11:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m., respectively.  The AirTran flights will be operated by Ryan International Airlines using Airbus 320 aircraft.
