AMERICA’S AIRPORT EXECUTIVES TO MEET IN LOS ANGELES
Security, industry economics and federal legislation will be themes of the annual meeting which also celebrates the 75th Anniversary of LAX and the Centennial of Flight.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – April 14 – Protecting the U.S. airport system while preparing for future demand will take center stage when the nation’s airport executives, businesses and suppliers meet at the 75th Annual American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Conference and Exposition in Los Angeles, California from April 27 through April 30. Conference business activities will take place at the L.A. Convention Center and the Westin Bonaventure Hotel.

"Security concerns, economic uncertainty, and the impacts of war have made recent times one of the most challenging periods for airports in the entire 100 year history of powered flight," AAAE President Chip Barclay said. "This conference provides airport officials with an opportunity to stay at the leading edge of trends and technology developments in the aviation industry."

More than 2,400 airport industry professionals are expected to attend this annual event that will feature speakers such as L.A. Mayor Jim Hahn, House Homeland Security Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers (R-KY), Southwest Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Gary Kelly and Department of Transportation Inspector General Ken Mead.

Attendees and the media will also have more than 30 hour-long, specialized business sessions to chose from including FAA reauthorization, security technology, small community air service, airline economics, general aviation, cargo security, airport concessions, airport capacity, regional jets, passenger facility charges, legal issues, wireless options and international air service development. More than 220 companies will occupy over 325 booths with the latest in aviation related advancements.

The conference is hosted by the Los Angles World Airports which celebrates the 75th Anniversary of the Los Angeles International Airport this year.

"Given the national importance and prominence of airport and aviation issues plus the 75th anniversary of LAX, we are proud to be this year’s host airport for the AAAE Annual Conference," Lydia H. Kennard, LAWA executive director, said. "This conference allows airport, airline and government officials an excellent opportunity to dialogue about the future of the aviation industry. It’s also a good opportunity to network, exchange best practices, and learn more about the evolving issues of security and other important aviation initiatives."

Interested media should register by contacting Eryn Travis at 703-525-2475. Registration is complimentary for the media. Daily media briefings plus several media availabilities with LAWA and AAAE representatives will be offered to the media. More information on the media schedule will be released closer to the event.
