ADDENDUM TO FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT RELEASED FOR LAX MASTER PLAN

(Los Angeles, California - Sept. 22, 2004) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) today released the Addendum to the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) for the modernization of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The Addendum to the Final EIR consists of an introduction (Chapter 1) as well as the following technical components: Additional Discussion of Environmental Consequences relative to the Relocation Plan/Property Acquisition, Environmental Justice, and Air Quality. It also includes refinements to the LAX Plan and the LAX Specific Plan for Alternative D, a Feasibility Analysis of the three "Alternative E" proposals, and refinements to the Environmental Action Plan. Two Appendices cover additional comments and responses and an errata to the Final EIR.

LAWA also released revised copies of the LAX Plan, LAX Specific Plan and Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program.

The LAX Plan incorporated refinements and corrections that have occurred since the initial publication in April 2004. Corrections were made to factual details. Repetitive and unclear language and policies were deleted.

The LAX Specific Plan was amended to include the concept of promoting a regional airport system, additional opportunities for public participation, preparation of an annual traffic generation report and aviation activity analysis, requirements to address security benefits, traffic and aviation activity under certain circumstances, and City Council final authority to grant approval for individual LAX Master Plan projects.

The Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program was updated to include nine new Master Plan commitments and a refinement of mitigation measure MM-AQ-1 on Air Quality.

The Final EIR, including the Addendum to the FEIR, the LAX Master Plan, Draft Relocation Plan and the revised LAX Plan, LAX Specific Plan and Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program are available for review at more than 50 local and regional libraries and other locations across the region.

Information on the LAX Master Plan, including all publications in their entirety, is also available online at www.laxmasterplan.org.
