(Los Angeles, California – Oct. 3, 2007) Los Angeles Airport Police (LAX) Lieutenant Leon O. Nixon III, acting commander of Traffic Services, graduated from the 230th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. Lieutenant Nixon is among a select few of Airport Police personnel who have graduated from this highly recognized leadership training academy.

The FBI National Academy began in 1932, and its program is comprised of 10 weeks of advanced investigative, management, and fitness training for selected leaders who have distinguished themselves through professional service and commitment. The intense training for this program is provided by FBI Academy staff, and other staff members - many of whom are internationally recognized in their fields of expertise. FBI Director Robert Mueller was the principal speaker at the ceremony.

Los Angeles Airport Police Division is the fourth largest law enforcement agency in Los Angeles County, with more than 1,100 law enforcement, security and staff personnel. The Airport Police is a division of Los Angeles World Airports, the City department that owns and operates four airports in Southern California: Los Angeles International, LA/Ontario International, LA/Palmdale Regional and Van Nuys (general aviation).
