RAYMOND JACK APPOINTED OPERATIONS MANAGER AT LAX

(Los Angeles, California – December 23, 2008)  Raymond Jack has been appointed to the position of Operations Manager at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  Announcement of the promotion was made by Jeff Fitch, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) deputy executive director of operations and maintenance.

“Jack’s background, experience and technical aviation knowledge make him well-matched for the duties he assume as LAX Operations Manager, including development of the Airport Operations Center for both daily operations and emergency coordination,” Fitch said.

Prior to this appointment, Jack served as LAX’s Airfield Manager, overseeing the activities of the Air Operations Center, having held that position since 2006.  In that position, Jack was responsible for all LAX airfield operations.  He established and oversaw integration of the gate control assignments, airfield busing operations, airfield permits and airfield inspections to form the Air Operations Center.  “He also played an integral role in the recent incorporation of the Airbus A380 into the LAX system,” Fitch said.

Jack has worked for LAWA since 1993.  He began his LAWA career as an airport operations coordinator. He then held the position of Chief of Airfield Operations before being appointed Airport Manager.

Prior to joining LAWA, Jack held the rank of captain and served as a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He later attained the rank of major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

Jack earned his Master of Arts degree in Business from Webster University in Irvine and his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the City University of New York.

Jack holds a commercial pilot’s license with ratings to fly single and multi-engine airplanes and helicopters. He also has instrument ratings for both types of aircraft.

Los Angeles World Airports is the City department that owns and operates four airports.  In addition to LAX, they are LA/Ontario International, LA/Palmdale Regional and Van Nuys airports.
