LAX AIRPORT GUIDES FOR PASSENGERS WITH DISABILITIES NOW AVAILABLE

 

(Los Angeles, California – October 20, 2010)  Los Angeles InternationalAirport (LAX) has released an updated “A Guide for Individuals with Disabilities” and a new brochure, “Information for Travelers with Disabilities on Disaster Preparedness While at the Airport.” 

 Both are available on-line at http://www.lawa.org/welcome_LAWA.aspx?id=1766 , or by requesting large-type-size printed copies via e-mail topublicrelationsdivision@lawa.org.  The release of the brochures coincides with the 20th anniversary of the enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the landmark federal law that prohibits discrimination against persons with disabilities.

            “A Guide for Individuals with Disabilities” describes LAX services, facilities and amenities for passengers with disabilities, travel tips and useful websites. “Information for Travelers with Disabilities on Disaster Preparedness while at the Airport” equips passengers with knowledge on what to do if an emergency occurs while they are at the airport.   

            Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the seventh busiest airport in the world, offering more than 565 daily flights to 81 destinations in the U.S. and over 1,000 weekly nonstop flights to 65 international destinations on over 75 carriers.  LAX is part of a system of three Southern California airports – along with LA/Ontario International and Van Nuys general aviation – that are owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a department of the City of Los Angeles.
