AIRPORT EMPLOYEE HONORED FOR RETURNING LOST WALLET CONTAINING $2,993

 (Los Angeles, California – March 15, 2012)  Liborio Garcia, a custodian service attendant in Los Angeles International Airport’s Maintenance Services Division, was honored today by co-workers and supervisors for returning a lost wallet containing $2,993 that he found while working in a Departures Level men’s restroom in Terminal 7.

Upon finding the wallet, Garcia immediately turned it over to Los Angeles Airport Police offficers, who were then able to quickly return the wallet to its rightful owner. 

“His actions exemplify the ethical behavior we expect of all our employees when they carry out their duties with honesty and integrity,” said Ralph G. Morones, Maintenance Services Division director. “His good deed exemplifies trustworthiness at the highest level and makes me proud that he works in the Maintenance Services Division.”

 “Imagine the panic one experiences when he believes he has lost his wallet,” said Airport Police Chief Michael Hyams.  “Actions like those displayed by Mr. Garcia greatly contribute to enhancing the passenger experience  Honesty seems to be becoming increasingly rare but not among our employees.  LAX is one of the busiest airports in the world and customer service is one of our highest.priorities."

Garcia is a nine-year employee of Los Angeles World Airports, the City department that owns and operates LAX and two other Southern California airports: LA/Ontario International and Van Nuys (general aviation).
