(Los Angeles, California – October 29, 2012)  Airport officials at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) report that 10 airlines have cancelled a total of 200 flights (99 arrivals  and 101 departures) today due to expected weather conditions and their impacts on airports in the northeast associated with Hurricane Sandy.  This number only covers nonstop and direct (one or two stops with same flight number) flights.  Connecting flights with change of planes are not included.  Departing passengers and motorists picking up arriving passengers with flights to and from the following airports are advised to check with their airlines to verify flight schedules before coming to LAX:  New York/JFK, Newark, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington/Dulles, Baltimore/Washington, Chicago/O’Hare and Cleveland, as well as two flights to/from London.  The number of flight cancellations and delays is subject to change due to weather conditions.  The Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA’s) website provides up-to-the-minute conditions at all U.S. airports atwww.faa.gov, then click on “Airport Status and Delays.”  Status of flights at LAX is available at www.lawa.org/fsw/default.aspx (subject to updates by airlines).
