LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS NAMES EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS DIRECTOR

 

(Los Angeles, California – September 25, 2012)  John Kinney has been appointed Director of Emergency Preparedness, responsible for developing, administering and coordinating emergency management for all airports within the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) system. 

“He will be working with Deputy Executive Director Jacqueline Yaft in performing these duties and closely with staff as well as other city agencies,” LAWA Executive Director Gina Marie Lindsey said when announcing Kinney’s appointment. “Truly effective emergency preparedness involves everyone.”

Most recently Kinney served as national director of aviation management and operational services for the aviation consulting firm of Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc.

He formerly served as deputy manager of aviation at Denver International Airport where he oversaw airport operations, emergency management, and public safety and security.

Prior to Denver, Kinney served in the Transportation Security Administration as federal security director throughout Montana and as deputy federal security director in Chicago.  His background also includes 10 years as airport director at Scottsdale (AZ) Municipal Airport and nearly five years as assistant manager at Long Beach Municipal Airport.

Kinney, a licensed pilot, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in aviation management with a minor in marketing from Metropolitan State College in Denver.

Los Angeles World Airports is a proprietary department of the City of Los Angeles that owns and operates three Southern California airports:  Los Angeles International, LA/Ontario International and Van Nuys general aviation.  It receives no funding from the City’s general fund.
