AIRPORT COMMISSION APPROVES CORINTHIAN INTERNATIONAL TO OPERATE WESTWOOD AND METRO EXPO/LA BREA FLYAWAY® BUS ROUTES

(Los Angeles, California – September 17, 2012)  The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved a three-year-agreement with Corinthian International Parking Services, Inc., Los Angeles, to operate and manage the existing LAX FlyAway® bus service between Westwood and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and a planned stop adjacent to the Metro Rail Expo Line at La Brea Avenue.

Airport officials noted this $2.9 million agreement will result in an annual savings of approximately $425,000, compared to the current Westwood FlyAway® contract.

The LAX FlyAway® bus stop is located in Westwood Village at11075 Kinross Avenue, one block west of Gayley Avenue in front of UCLA Parking Structure 32. FlyAway® users may park in marked spaces for up to 10 days on the first level of the UCLA Parking Structure at the southeast corner in stalls number 32915 through 32039.

Discussions with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) for the use of its Metro Rail Expo/La Brea station are already underway and service would begin following approval by both boards.

Corinthian will provide multiple ticketing purchase options, including online and on-bus ticket sales, and cash will be accepted in the near future, which was not the case in the past.  One-way fare for the FlyAway® service at Westwood is $10 and children under five years of age ride free.  Fares have not been finalized for the future La Brea FlyAway® location.

The expansion of FlyAway® bus service is a requirement of the LAX Master Plan Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program.  Passengers ride dedicated, clean-fuel, high-occupancy buses to reduce ground traffic congestion and vehicle emissions around LAX and the region.   LAX FlyAway® bus service is also in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
