LA/Ontario International Airport North Way Roadway Closed This Weekend for Repavement
(Ontario, California – February 28, 2014) The main entrance into LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) at North Way, west of Archibald Ave., will be closed from Friday, Feb. 28 through Tuesday, March 4 for asphalt repavement. North Way, which leads to the terminal areas and adjacent parking lots, is being repaved and resurfaced for safety and reduced emergency repairs in the future.
Terminals 2 and 4, and adjacent parking lots, can be accessed by entering Terminal Way either at the west or east of the terminal loop. Directional and informational signs, and traffic control devices will be in place during the closure.
“We normally recommend that travelers arrive at least 90 minutes before departure to give themselves plenty of time for parking, check-in, and security procedures,” said Jess Romo, ONT’s airport manager. “Travelers should also take into consideration the weather this weekend and North Way closure to ensure that they get to the airport in plenty of time.”
ONT is located in the Inland Empire, approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles in the center of Southern California. It is a medium-hub, full-service airport with commercial jet service to 15 major U.S. cities and through service to many international destinations. There are approximately 114 daily flights offered by 7 air carriers. LAX, the sixth-busiest airport in the world serving nearly 66 million guests in 2022, is owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a proprietary, revenue-generating department of the City of Los Angeles that also governs Van Nuys Airport (VNY). As the international gateway to the Southern California region, LAX and its partners are dedicated to meeting global airport standards for customer satisfaction, safety, regional economic leadership, organizational performance and sustainability.
To better serve the millions of domestic and international guests that travel through LAX each year, the airport is undergoing a multi-billion-dollar capital improvement program to modernize its entire campus. Initiatives underway include an Automated People Mover, a Consolidated Rental Car Facility and two projects that will each add over one million square feet to the airport's existing property: Terminal 9 and Concourse 0.
