READY, SET, PULL! FRIENDS OF ONTARIO AIRPORT AND ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT HOST 6TH ANNUAL PLANE PULL FOR USO
(Ontario, CA --- September 17, 2014) Back by popular demand, the Friends of Ontario Airport and Ontario International Airport (ONT) will host the 6th Annual “Pull for Our Heroes” plane pull competition on October 4 benefiting the USO Ontario. The fundraiser will also benefit other non-profit organizations including Travelers Aid of the Inland Empire, Baldy View ROP Foundation and ONT’s educational outreach programs.
The plane pull is a fun and competitive team-building and tug-of-war exercise pitting teams of men and women against a 120,000 lb. 727 aircraft. Each team of 20 will have two attempts to pull the 727 a distance of 25 feet. The winners will have a year’s bragging rights to Fastest Pull, Most Creative Team Name, Top Fundraising Team, and Slowest Pull.
This is the airport’s biggest annual fundraising event and it’s exciting to see it become more popular each year,” said Airport Manager Jess Romo. “We’ve had a long-standing partnership with the Friends of Ontario Airport and thank them for all their support over the past 20 years.”
Past teams include United Parcel Service, USO Ontario, Frito Lay/ PepsiCo, Ontario International Airport, Niagara Bottling LLC, City of Ontario, Ontario Police Officers Association, Kaiser Permanente and Sothern California City Clerks Association.

LAX, the sixth-busiest airport in the world serving nearly 66 million guests in 2022, is owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a proprietary, revenue-generating department of the City of Los Angeles that also governs Van Nuys Airport (VNY). As the international gateway to the Southern California region, LAX and its partners are dedicated to meeting global airport standards for customer satisfaction, safety, regional economic leadership, organizational performance and sustainability.
To better serve the millions of domestic and international guests that travel through LAX each year, the airport is undergoing a multi-billion-dollar capital improvement program to modernize its entire campus. Initiatives underway include an Automated People Mover, a Consolidated Rental Car Facility and two projects that will each add over one million square feet to the airport's existing property: Terminal 9 and Concourse 0.
