PUBLIC WORKSHOP SET ON DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT FOR LAX NORTHSIDE PLAN UPDATE PROJECT

            (Los Angeles, California – May 20, 2014) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has scheduled a public workshop to provide interested parties the opportunity to review and inquire about the completion of the Draft Environmental Impact Report for the LAX Northside Plan Update Project at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). No decisions on the proposed project will be made at the public workshop.

 The workshop is scheduled for June 11, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the gymnasium of St. Bernard High School, 9100 Falmouth Ave., Playa del Rey.

The proposed project would permit up to 2.3-million square feet of commercial development; permit areas for open space for recreational and buffer uses; and allow uses and development rights to be transferred within limited areas on the site. Implementation of the proposed project may also include a street vacationing of Cum Laude Avenue. Its implementation is expected to result in significant and unavoidable impacts related to air quality, traffic, and short-term construction-related noise impacts.

The proposed project area encompasses approximately 340 acres generally bounded by Sepulveda Westway and Sepulveda Boulevard to the east, LAX to the south, Pershing Drive to the west. and generally 91st Street, Manchester Avenue and 88th Street to the north.

The Draft EIR for the LAX Northside Plan Update Project is available for public review at by appointment at LAX, Clifton A. Moore Administration Building, 1 World Way, Room 218, Los Angeles. The review period for the Draft EIR ends June 30, 2014.
