AMERICAN AIRLINES MARKS INTEGRATION MILESTONE WITH OPERATIONS IN TERMINAL 6

(October 16, 2015 – Los Angeles, California) American Airlines will mark another integration milestone when it begins operations from Terminal 6, effective Oct. 17, in addition to already operating at Terminal 4 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Travelers are encouraged to check the status of their flight on www.aa.com, on the mobile app or their boarding pass prior to heading to LAX for terminal information.

Traveling between terminals

Before security – travelers can walk between Terminal 4 and Terminal 6 prior to entering security screening via the upper and lower walkways. Complimentary LAX Shuttle Airline Connection “A” runs every 15 minutes and can be boarded under the blue “Airline Connections” sign curbside on the Lower/Arrivals level. After security - A shuttle runs every 15 minutes between Terminal 4 (Gate 44) and Terminal 6 (Gate 65A). There is also an underground walkway that connects the terminals.

Online and mobile app check-in

Beginning Oct. 17, travelers can use aa.com or the American mobile app to check-in for flights and get boarding passes as early as 24 hours before departure. The US Airways app will no longer be available, and usairways.com will reroute travelers to aa.com beginning Oct, 17.

At the kiosk

Travelers will have three ways to retrieve their reservations at American Airlines airport kiosks: their AAdvantage® number, six-digit record locator or by swiping a credit card issued in their name. Last names will no longer be used as the sole identifier for check-in. The “Dangerous Goods” screen will also change. Travelers will need to acknowledge on the screen they are not carrying dangerous goods, as opposed to acknowledging and agreeing the dangerous goods policy by clicking “yes” as they did previously with US Airways.

AAdvantage® benefits refresher

American has already combined the AAdvantage and Dividend Miles programs for its frequent flyers, providing the ability to earn and redeem miles on both airlines. On Oct. 17, the upgrade, standby and same day flight change policies will be fully aligned. Please see aa.com for more information on upgrades and same day flight changes.
