LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT POWER OUTAGE - UPDATE

LA/Ontario International Airport Power Outage - Update

(Ontario, California – September 17, 2015) As of 2:15 PM, full power was restored to passenger Terminals 2 and 4 along with the terminal parking lots and the Rental Car facility at LA Ontario International Airport (ONT).

The interim solution will remain in place while repairs to the main sub-station are completed over the coming days.  The return to normal terminal operations is anticipated over the next few hours and includes the reestablishment of all airline services and food and beverage offerings.  ONT staff and its contractor will continue to coordinate with Southern California Edison on the permanent repairs and determine the cause of the outage.

Travelers may experience limited offerings over the next day or so while food and beverage operators replenish their supplies.  ONT encourages departing passengers to continue checking directly with their respective airline to confirm the status of flights and are encouraged to print boarding passes and or download to their cell phones before arriving to the airport.

ONT is located in the Inland Empire, approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles in the center of Southern California. It is a medium-hub, full-service airport with direct commercial jet service to 15 major U.S. cities and connecting service to many domestic and international destinations. There are approximately 62 daily departures offered by 8 air carriers. About Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
LAX, the sixth-busiest airport in the world serving nearly 66 million guests in 2022, is owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a proprietary, revenue-generating department of the City of Los Angeles that also governs Van Nuys Airport (VNY). As the international gateway to the Southern California region, LAX and its partners are dedicated to meeting global airport standards for customer satisfaction, safety, regional economic leadership, organizational performance and sustainability.

To better serve the millions of domestic and international guests that travel through LAX each year, the airport is undergoing a multi-billion-dollar capital improvement program to modernize its entire campus. Initiatives underway include an Automated People Mover, a Consolidated Rental Car Facility and two projects that will each add over one million square feet to the airport's existing property: Terminal 9 and Concourse 0.
