40 YEARS OF LAX FLYAWAY® BUS SERVICE TO BE CELEBRATED AT VAN NUYS AIRPORT
WHAT: Los Angeles World Airports employees will entertain the traveling public by providing refreshments and participating in games, giveaways, and musical activities in a celebration of 40 years of continuous non-stop FlyAway ® bus service between the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
This first and most successful of LAX’s FlyAway ® bus services began on July 10, 1975 with 141 passengers taking advantage of the convenient bus service. Today, the LAX FlyAway ® bus service at Van Nuys continues to dominate FlyAway® demand with ridership expected to exceed 958,000 this year.
San Fernando Valley passengers bound for LAX have the option of being dropped off at the Van Nuys Bus Terminal, or leavings their cars in the covered terminal’s patrolled parking area.. The buses offer free Internet access. The buses then drop off and pickup travelers in front of each terminal at the airport.
Unlike public buses, FlyAway ® buses are designed with luggage bays and feature cushioned seats. The service complies with requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
WHEN: Friday, July 10 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

ABOUT THE LAX FLYAWAY ®:
The LAX FlyAway® bus service is provided by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), the owner and operator of Los Angeles International Airport, LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) and Van Nuys Airport (VNY). LAWA is a department of the City of Los Angeles. The purpose of the LAX FlyAway® service is to mitigate traffic congestion and air pollution in the area surrounding LAX. LAWA contracts the FlyAway® bus service with private operators through a competitive bidding process. LAX FlyAway® buses provide scheduled ground transportation between LAX and five locations throughout the city. In addition to Van Nuys, there is a site at Union Station, Westwood, Santa Monica and Hollywood.
