VOLARIS INCREASES INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIVITY FROM MEXICO’S BAJIO REGION TO LOS ANGELES

 

(Los Angeles, California – April 16, 2015) Volaris (NYSE: VLRS and BMV: VOLAR), the low cost Mexican airline with an extensive route network servicing Mexico and the U.S., announced today the launch of new international service connecting the city of Leon in Guanajuato with Los Angeles with four weekly flights to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), beginning June 8, 2015.

            “We are very pleased to announce new service from Mexico’s Bajío region to Los Angeles, reaffirming our presence throughout the State of California,” remarked Volaris Commercial Director Holger Blankenstein. “To date, we have transported over 2.5 million passengers from Los Angeles, a number that continues on the rise as a result of our 70 weekly flights to this city. This underscores our commitment to uniting family and friends on both sides of the border efficiently and safely, but especially at the best fares available in the market”. 

            Blankenstein explained the new service becomes the fifth destination to be operated from Leon, Guanajuato. “Volaris is in fact the carrier operating the greatest number of routes between Mexico and the US,” he said. “We service 136 routes to 59 outstanding destinations on both sides of the border, and from Leon we operate 40 flights per week reiterating our commitment to providing this iconic city with greater domestic and international connectivity”.            

            Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles Mayor, said: "I am excited to welcome this new Volaris service to LAX, which will expand our existing deep economic, educational and cultural exchange between Los Angeles and Mexico. I had the opportunity to discuss this potential route with Volaris during my recent trade mission to Mexico City, and I'm very pleased our work to deliver these new flights will soon bring more prosperity and convenient travel options for the residents of Los Angeles and Leon."

            For those interested in the new service, flight schedules, including dates and times of operation, are announced as follows:

Leon, Guanajuato – Los Angeles, California

(Effective June 8. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays)

ü  Departing Leon, Guanajuato at 8:30hrs., arriving Los Angeles, California at 10:00hrs.

ü  Departing Los Angeles, California at 11:20hrs., arriving Leon, Guanajuato at 16:20 hrs.

 

            Launched at an introductory fare starting at US$ 155 one-way, flights are available for booking with Volaris’ innovative “Tú Decides” pay-per-service arrangement, whereby Customers select exclusively those services they need for their specific travel needs.
