NEARLY 250 ATTEND PRE-PROPOSAL CONFERENCE FOR CONTRACTS TO MANAGE MULTI-BILLION-DOLLAR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM AT LAX

(Los Angeles, California – May 11, 2016) Nearly 250 business representatives turned out for a pre-proposal conference this afternoon to learn more about a Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Request for Proposals (RFP) for Program Management/Project & Construction Management, and Project Controls Support Services for LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP).

The conference, held at the Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel, provided an opportunity for interested businesses to get more information about the many construction projects for LAWA, which will result in a modern airport that significantly improves the overall guest experience.

“We are thrilled to see the tremendous interest in the many exciting opportunities forthcoming at Los Angeles World Airports,” said LAWA Chief Executive Officer Deborah Flint. “Our multi-billion-dollar LAX Capital Improvement Program extends beyond the Landside Access Modernization Program and provides opportunities for local, small and diverse businesses to participate in solicitations for expert resources in the areas of airfield, landside, terminal, and utility improvements.”

This RFP provides the opportunity for professional firms to participate in the largest capital improvement program in the City’s history. Demonstrating LAWA’s commitment to cultivating opportunities for small, local and diverse businesses, the procurement of these contracts will require both Small Business Enterprise (SBE) participation, as well as a Local Business Preference (LBE) factor. LAWA intends to award multiple contracts to qualified small, medium and large firms as described in the RFP. Contracts awarded as a result of this procurement will span five years with potential renewal options. The estimated cumulative value of these contracts is approximately $350 million.

During today’s conference, LAWA managers detailed the city’s contracting process, including LAWA’s needs, scope of work, and administrative and insurance requirements of the RFP. In addition, employees of the City’s Bureau of Contract Administration were present to assist more than 50 eligible companies in beginning the process to register as a small business enterprise with the City. Attendees also took the opportunity to network among themselves after the formal program concluded.

Presentation materials from today’s pre-proposal conference and a list of attendees will be available through the City of Los Angeles Business Assistance Virtual Network (LABAVN) at www.labavn.org, where qualified firms interested in this opportunity will also find related documents and information on upcoming events. Questions regarding the RFP should be submitted to LAWA’s Planning & Development Group at pdgprocurement@lawa.org.
