LAX HOSTS FIRST-EVER VETERANS JOB FAIR
(Los Angeles, California – September 14, 2016) Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) hosted a job fair for veterans to assist 23 LAX employers meet their staffing needs with former military personnel. LAX targeted the veteran community, but the general public was welcomed to attend.
Approximately 100 job seekers attended the free, half-day event at the Flight Path Learning Center & Museum on the southern border of the airport. Job seekers met and interviewed with company recruiters from ABM Onsite Services, Crews of California, HMS Host, Mercury Air Group, PCL Construction Services, Enterprise Holdings, Turner Construction, Hertz Corporation, Dewey Pest Control, Gate Gourmet, Hertz, Los Angeles Airport Police, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Human Resources Division, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Transportation Security Administration.
These employers offered job opportunities in a variety of fields, including bus/shuttle drivers, sales associates, cargo screeners, engineers, project managers, administrative assistants, automotive technicians, law-enforcement officers, and customer service.
“Today was a great day for our region’s Veterans and for employers at LAX,” said Trevor Daley, LAWA Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs. “This was LAX’s first job fair to target veterans -- an untapped resource of experience, talent and skill -- and matching them with airport employers was the best of both worlds.”
Service organizations, including the Bob Hope USO at LAX, the Salvation Army HAVEN Veterans Employment Services, and the California National Guard, also partnered with LAWA to provide information on veteran resources and benefits.

The study also reported that LAX’s ongoing capital-improvement program creates an additional 121,640 annual jobs with labor income of $7.6 billion and economic output of $20.3 billion, $966 million in state and local taxes, and $1.6 billion in federal tax revenues.
