SAMANTHA BRICKER APPOINTED LAWA DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AND COORDINATION

(Los Angeles, California – July 29, 2016) Samantha Bricker has been appointed Deputy Executive Director – Project Development and Coordination for Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA).  Announcement of Bricker’s appointment was made by LAWA Chief Executive Officer Deborah Flint.  In this position, Bricker will focus on coordinating with external agencies and stakeholders on the Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP) that will build a world-class transportation system for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). LAMP is considered one of the largest construction programs in Los Angeles City history.

LAMP consists of four primary components: an Automated People Mover (APM), a Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility, two Intermodal Transportation Facilities (east and west), as well as roadway improvements to enhance access to the proposed facilities.  LAMP is designed to relieve traffic congestion within the LAX Central Terminal Area and on surrounding streets, improve access options and the overall airport guest experience for travelers, and connect via a station to Metro’s light-rail system.

Prior to joining LAWA, Bricker was Chief Operating Officer of the Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority.  She directed the start-up of the Authority through design and construction  of the Metro Expo Line, including creation of policies, financial management, and organizational structure.  She managed the $2.5-billion Expo Line Project, including oversight of procurement, development of the life-of-project budget and annual budgets, community and government relations, contract compliance and agency coordination.  She also directed the environmental planning process for Phase 2 of the project.

Before she joined the Expo Authority, she served as a legislative deputy to Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky from 1994 to 2006, where she worked on transportation projects such as the subway to Hollywood and North Hollywood and the Orange Line busway.

“Samantha’s knowledge in implementing major transit projects and experience with external agencies and stakeholders will prove valuable as LAWA initiates LAMP,” said LAWA CEO Flint.  “Serving on the LAMP management team, she will play a vital role supporting development of the components of LAMP, initially with the 2.5-mile Automated People Mover and the Consolidated Rental Car facility.”

Bricker earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Northwestern University in Chicago and a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from UCLA.
