FLYAWAY® BUS STOP AT UNION STATION TO BE TEMPORARILY RELOCATED DURING METRO REHABILITATION WORK TO PATSAOURAS PLAZA
(Los Angeles, California – July 8, 2016) The FlyAway® bus stop at Union Station will temporarily move to the front of the station for several months beginning Monday, July 11, while Metro performs major rehabilitation work to Patsaouras Plaza through mid-October.
While Patsaouras Plaza is closed, Metro will resurface the bus plaza, replace the waterproofing and drainage system, and add a pedestrian safety fence.
The stop for the FlyAway® bus to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will be located on the west side of Union Station. The bus service will operate on its regular schedule: every 30 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.; hourly between 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.; and every 20 minutes between 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on weekdays. The regular weekend schedule is every 30 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. and hourly between 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. The nonstop bus service to/from LAX is $9 one way. Two children age five and under may ride free with each paying adult. Parking in the Union Station garage is $8 per day, with a 30-day limit.
In addition to the FlyAway® bus service, the plaza is served by more than 30 bus and shuttle lines. Their pick-up and drop-off stops will also move to other locations in the vicinity of Union Station. Signs and maps will be posted to help direct riders to the temporary stops.
More than 500,000 passengers used the FlyAway® service at Union Station last year, second to the FlyAway’s® Van Nuys route in popularity. In addition to the Union Station and Van Nuys locations, the FlyAway® bus provides direct service from five other locations across Los Angeles County: Hollywood, Long Beach, Metro Orange Line (San Fernando Valley), Santa Monica, and Westwood. More than 1.6 million people used the FlyAway® bus in 2015.

LAX, the sixth-busiest airport in the world serving nearly 66 million guests in 2022, is owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a proprietary, revenue-generating department of the City of Los Angeles that also governs Van Nuys Airport (VNY). As the international gateway to the Southern California region, LAX and its partners are dedicated to meeting global airport standards for customer satisfaction, safety, regional economic leadership, organizational performance and sustainability.
To better serve the millions of domestic and international guests that travel through LAX each year, the airport is undergoing a multi-billion-dollar capital improvement program to modernize its entire campus. Initiatives underway include an Automated People Mover, a Consolidated Rental Car Facility and two projects that will each add over one million square feet to the airport's existing property: Terminal 9 and Concourse 0.
