TRAFFIC ADVISORY:
INGLEWOOD ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT TO CLOSE CENTURY BOULEVARD, NORTHBOUND I-405 CENTURY BOULEVARD ON- AND
OFF-RAMPS NEAR LAX THIS WEEKEND

(Los Angeles, California – June 9, 2016) Motorists heading to or from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this weekend are advised to plan ahead for possible traffic delays due to temporary closure of both east and west directions of Century Boulevard between La Cienega Boulevard and Felton Avenue near LAX. The northbound I-405 freeway on- and off-ramps at Century Boulevard also will be closed. The closures are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 10 and end at 5 a.m. on Monday, June 13, weather permitting. The southbound I-405 freeway on- and off-ramps at Century Boulevard will remain open during this period.

The closures are part of the City of Inglewood’s ongoing Century Boulevard Mobility Improvement Project that encompasses a three-mile distance from the Inglewood city limit at La Cienega Boulevard to Van Ness Avenue. The project will improve the roadway surface conditions, bring all traffic lanes and signals to current codes and standards, improve traffic and pedestrian safety, and reduce congestion along Century Boulevard. Started late 2015 and expected to be completed in mid-2017, construction work is being performed in four segments, with this weekend’s segment the first.

Motorists heading to LAX on westbound Century Boulevard will be detoured to northbound Inglewood Avenue to westbound West Manchester Boulevard, to southbound La Cienega Boulevard, and then return to westbound Century Boulevard. Motorists leaving LAX on eastbound Century Boulevard will be detoured following the reverse of this route.

Inglewood’s project traffic management plan includes maintaining access to businesses at all times unless notified in advance, temporary relocation of bus stops, access for pedestrians maintained outside the construction zone, and one vehicle lane open in each direction at all times for emergency vehicles.

Members of the public may call (323) 669-7653 with any questions or concerns about the project and (951) 538-0725 for issues requiring immediate attention.

Airport officials advise passengers they should plan to arrive in their airline terminals two hours before boarding time on domestic flights and three hours before boarding time on international flights.
