(Los Angeles, CA) Motorists should allow extra time heading towards Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), particularly from the south, because of a street resurfacing project on westbound Imperial Highway, between Douglas and Sepulveda Boulevard, starting Monday, May 14, 2018.

The resurfacing, being performed by the Los Angeles Bureau of Street Services, will take place weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is expected to last about six days. At least one lane of Imperial Highway will be open at all times, and the intersection with Nash Street will remain open when the work takes place in the vicinity.

The work is part of a larger plan to resurface the length of Imperial Highway in the City of Los Angeles from Aviation Boulevard west to Vista del Mar, with the remaining construction scheduled for later this year. Eastbound Imperial Highway between Sepulveda and Aviation boulevards was resurfaced last year.

Motorists can use Interstate 105, Century Boulevard or other east-west routes to avoid the construction. LAX partners with Waze, the world’s largest community-based traffic reporting app, to provide enhanced information on conditions inside theairport and on nearby roadways.

About Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
LAX, the sixth-busiest airport in the world serving nearly 66 million guests in 2022, is owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a proprietary, revenue-generating department of the City of Los Angeles that also governs Van Nuys Airport (VNY). As the international gateway to the Southern California region, LAX and its partners are dedicated to meeting global airport standards for customer satisfaction, safety, regional economic leadership, organizational performance and sustainability.

To better serve the millions of domestic and international guests that travel through LAX each year, the airport is undergoing a multi-billion-dollar capital improvement program to modernize its entire campus. Initiatives underway include an Automated People Mover, a Consolidated Rental Car Facility and two projects that will each add over one million square feet to the airport's existing property: Terminal 9 and Concourse 0.
