(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is helping love take flight this Valentine's Day with a special "Love LAX" photo contest.

From now until Feb. 14, couples, families and individuals are encouraged to take a romantic, quirky or stylish photo in front of the iconic LAX sign on Sepulveda Boulevard, which Cupid has decorated to celebrate the holiday of love. People who tag their photos with #LoveLAX and @flyLAXairport on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram will be eligible to win Los Angeles World Airports swag.
(The sign can be found on the east side of Sepulveda Blvd, north of LAX, where Sepulveda Blvd. meets Lincoln Blvd.)

"Over the course of the Valentine’s Day holiday week, LAX will be filled with couples heading to romantic destinations or landing in Los Angeles to experience the City of Angels," said Barbara Yamamoto, Chief Guest Experience Officer, LAWA. "We can't wait to see how our guests and community friends capture their feelings of love and excitement with a photograph in front of one of our city's most iconic features – the LAX sign."

LAX will randomly select 5 winners from all eligible submissions on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook on Feb. 15. Winners will be contacted via social media.

If anyone is interested in proposing in front of the LAX sign on or before Feb. 14, they should contact laxpr@lawa.org and we'll help make it happen!

About Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

LAX, the fifth busiest airport in the world and second in the United States, was named in Skytrax’ 2018 top 10 U.S. airports. LAX served more than 87.5 million passengers in 2018 and offers 737 daily nonstop flights to 100 cities in the U.S. and 1,386 weekly nonstop flights to 88 cities in 44 countries on 73 commercial air carriers.  LAX ranks 14th in the world and fifth in the U.S. in air cargo tonnage processed, with more than 2.2 million tons of air cargo valued at over $101.4 billion. LAX handled 700,362 operations (landings and takeoffs) in 2017.

An economic study based on 2014 operations reported LAX generated 620,600 jobs in Southern California with labor income of $37.3 billion and economic output (business revenues) of more than $126.6 billion. This activity added $6.2 billion to local and state revenues and $8.7 billion in federal tax revenues.  The study also reported that LAX’s ongoing capital-improvement program creates an additional 121,640 annual jobs with labor income of $7.6 billion and economic output of $20.3 billion, $966 million in state and local taxes, and $1.6 billion in federal tax revenues.

LAX is also the second most popular airport in the world to appear on Instagram according to wego.com. LAX is part of a system of two Southern California airports – along with Van Nuys general aviation – that are owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports, a proprietary department of the City of Los Angeles that receives no funding from the City’s general fund.

About Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
LAX, the sixth-busiest airport in the world serving nearly 66 million guests in 2022, is owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a proprietary, revenue-generating department of the City of Los Angeles that also governs Van Nuys Airport (VNY). As the international gateway to the Southern California region, LAX and its partners are dedicated to meeting global airport standards for customer satisfaction, safety, regional economic leadership, organizational performance and sustainability.

To better serve the millions of domestic and international guests that travel through LAX each year, the airport is undergoing a multi-billion-dollar capital improvement program to modernize its entire campus. Initiatives underway include an Automated People Mover, a Consolidated Rental Car Facility and two projects that will each add over one million square feet to the airport's existing property: Terminal 9 and Concourse 0. For more information about LAX, its transformation and its environmental, social and local workforce commitments, please visit flylax.com.
